Rubber conversion

Rubber conversion

Rubber conversion is any process of mixing, shredding, milling, rolling, pressing and vulcanisation of natural or synthetic rubber, including auxiliary processes for the treatment of natural or synthetic rubber in the manufacture of the final product.

Solvent consumption threshold

If the total annual solvent consumption of an installation performing rubber conversion is greater than 15 t/year, the installation is subject to the requirements of the VOC Regulation and classified as a VOC operator.

In line with the Regulation, all VOC installations in the rubber conversion category are classified as medium installations and are subject to the same emission limit values prescribed in Annex 5 of the VOC Regulation.
