Extraction and refining
Extraction of vegetable oils and animal fats, as well as refining vegetable oils include any process that encompasses the extraction of vegetable oils from seeds and other plant-based materials, treatment of dry residue in the preparation of feed, purification of fats and vegetable oils derived from seeds, plant-based or animal-based materials.
Solvent consumption threshold
If the total annual solvent consumption of an installation performing vegetable oil and animal fat extraction and vegetable oil refining is greater than 10 t/year, the installation is subject to the requirements of the VOC Regulation and classified as a VOC operator.
In line with the Regulation, all VOC installations in this category are classified as medium installations and are subject to the same total emission limit values prescribed in Annex 5 of the VOC Regulation.
